BadlanzHPE Full-Flow Cutouts

A special thanks goes to Charles Gerst, from BadlanzHPE out of Urbandale, IA. Website http://www.badlanzhpe.com/

BadlanzHPE, an independantly owned company, makes high quality, * FULL FLOW *, race exhaust cutout / rerouting systems for exhaust systems. This makes it entirely possible to run two separate exhaust systems via Y-pipe cutouts with NO flow restriction because of the size of the throttle plate. This is the difference between BadlanzHPE and the competition!

Charles runs a great company! He's very straightforward with awesome customer service and 100% satisfaction in mind. I reccomend his products for all of you to purchase, as they're competitively priced, and higher in quality than you'll find on this planet.

We thank Charles for his donating a new prototype model to our project for testing!

TZ2 - Haltech repaired, installed, TZ2 on the road

After a long string of problems, TZ2 is driving under haltech power faster than ever. The turbo spools by 1300 rpm, and full boost is in by 1800 rpm, simply incredible. The regulator is set for 5 psi boost, although I am getting really bad surge right now for unknown reasons.
Still some fine tuning to do on the fuel and ignition maps, however, a few limitations have been realized since the installation of the haltech.
1) Insufficient airflow through existing openings in front of chassis, heat soak an issue in the radiator during long periods at idle. Solution: Lower temp Thermostat and custom front grille, thermal switch for secondary fan instead of manual override switch.
2) Inefficient Induction system. ECU indicates intake temperatures approx 50 degrees above ambient during cruising, 20 degrees above ambient under 5 psi boost, 29 degrees above ambient at 10 psi. Some hesistation because of the nature of the piping is believed to cause excessive backpressure at the turbocharger, may be the cause of the boost surge.
3) Loosening engine mounts. We have installed NordLock washers under all the engine mounts in an attempt to solidify the powertrain. So far, so good. You can order Nordlock fasteners from McMaster Carr (www.mcmastercarr.com) or find more information at (www.nordlock.com)
4) Appearance. As many of you know, the car had to sit outside all winter. Some discoloration of the paint occurred, etc -- going to have to replace the hood as the fiberglass that was once patched has cracked and is now visibly showing topside. Have plans to use the metallic blue hood, some flat black paint, and some sort of 9/11 tribue on the hood.
5) Clutch may be slipping. Not positive yet, need to realign my belt tensioners (AC removal) to verify that its not the belt screeching at higher rpm's, but i believe the clutch may be slipping as of last week. This is the centerforce Stage 3 dual friction.... Not sure what to upgrade to from there.

Fire Department

Hey everyone -- I made it through the physical agility test. Passed! :) I start monday 4/25/05 on the fire department!

Haltech on order - TZ2 Repaired

Hey everyone... Got the car back together with two new axles, a new belt, belt tensioner, and found some of the engine mounts had loosened -- we are going to prepare the car for its ECM cutover, and try and get things mechanically sound before that occurrs.

TZ2 - Initial Assesment

Hey everyone, Well, took the Z apart a little, welded some supports for the motor mount, and am going to try and get this show on the road ASAP. I've determined the drifting is the drivers-side inner tie rod bushing having 'play', going to repair that... even though both were done not 2 years/7,000 miles ago... Also, the CV joint on the drivers side detonated when the motor mount broke, I will probably just swap that CV out at Autozone ad get yet another crappy axle -- at least now i'm smart enough to check the axle before i accept it. I'm taking the one for an '88 Z instead of the '93... its a tri-pot axle inboard, with a cardan joint on the outboard, not to mention it costs $39 less. ($30 axle!) however, it doesn't have ABS reluctor ring (not that i care, i don't need it!)
